How long did you have your GTI and why did you buy it?
I've had mine for 2 years and I wanted the 20th Anniversary Edition because it has the Rabbit on the back. (Plus the Recaro seats, lowered suspension, 6-speed transmission, 18inch wheels, and the Black Magic Pearl paintjob.) But seriously, these cars are so much fun and very practical. Its incredible how much stuff fits inside.

Re: Your GTI
Mon, June 27, 2005 - 2:26 PMI've had my '85 for 9 years...my first and only car.
I bought it because the Hondas and Nissans and Mazdas I drove seemed silly in comparison to the GTI's unreal handling. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. :-)
I've put over 100,000 miles on it without ever getting stranded due to mechanical breakdown. I wouldn't neccessarily say this is typical, but it works for me.
I do wonder why there are so few A2's in SF. Seems like everyone has brand new ones here. -

Re: Your GTI
Mon, June 27, 2005 - 2:53 PMThe 85 is a pretty bullet-proof car! Going from a Toyota et al, into a GTI is a pretty big leap. The handling is so much better.

Thu, June 30, 2005 - 5:21 AMA not so good thing to do is test drive the R32. Everything else will just feel silly after driving the R32! The sound of the engine alone will drive you crazy. -
